a slow start.........

We showed up at the hospital at 8:00 so we could get things started early and get out of there, but it took 2 1/2 hours to get an IV in. They tried in two different spots with no success because he is so puffy and his veins are shot.....so we had to wait a while for them to bring in an ultrasound machine so they could see exactly where his veins were and how big they were. We finally got the infusion started around 10:30 and after about 15 minutes his temperature shot up to 103.2! They had to stop the infusion and give him tylenol and wait for the fever to go down before they could proceed. It took another 30 minutes for his fever to go down then they started the IVIG again. He is still hooked up, thank goodness. They are increasing the rate of the drip as long as his fever stays at 100 or below. So far so good. Mason is doing great, other than the trauma of trying so hard to get an IV in. He was so brave and did such an amazing job! We should be out of here sometime tonight....maybe dinnertime...just in time to hit the worst rush hour traffic ;) Oh, and the doc came by.....his heart has not changed since the last echo. No better, no worse. Also, we are keeping the medicines exactly the same and waiting to see what happens. We really have no other alternative. I hate this waiting game. Hopefully in the end we win!
